  • Vocal Fry

As a comment, I think I've heard vocal fry most commonly in Japanese. I've often wondered what to call it - when girls say, "そうでしょう?” The vibration in the open vowel at the end is something I literally cannot emulate, and I've always wondered... and now I know. Vocal Fry.

    The Economist's Take

The voice does so many things that defy easy description; such is a wonder.

On another note, apparently the way Britney Spears pronounces the "th" sound is produced by placing the tip of the tongue under the front lip.  Try it!
